Run247 went along to the 42nd edition of the Teamsport Gozo Half Marathon in Malta. By all accounts Paul, the reporter who went along, had an amazing time and is currently writing up his race experience as you read this. In the meantime you can see the official report of the race below along with a quick interview with the men’s winner Charlton Debon.

A record breaking number of around 820 athletes participated in this year’s Teamsport Gozo Half Marathon. The 42nd edition of the half marathon was won by Gozitan Charlton Debono, who clocked 1:17:16, followed by Matthew Cutajar at 1:20:14 and Alan Camilleri at 1:20:18.

The women’s winner of the half marathon was Ukranian Oksana Riabova at 01:33:49. Following her in second place was Marica Micallef in 1:34:56 and in third place Brit Catherine Cutajar in 1:36:51.

Gozitan Stefan Azzopardi finished first in the 8 mile race in 45:33. Matthew Scicluna was second in 45:42, while Jonathan Balzan was third in 46:25. Maria Gerada finished first woman in the 8 mile race in 55:18, followed by Francesca Arrigo in 56:43 and Gozitan Francienne Mercieca in 59:06.

Apart from the half marathon and the 8 mile race, the event also included a 4km, 2km and 2km Fun Run. Jacob Greengrass (14:21) and Pamela Camilleri (9:26) placed first boy and first girl overall respectively. In the 2km race, Fabian Grech-Manz placed first boy overall in 7:08 while Leah Said placed first girl overall at 8:21. St Patrick’s Athletic Club won the award for club with most participants.
