First look at the new inov-8 Roclite

by editor
Wednesday 7th December 2016
Hard to believe, but inov-8 first launched the Roclite in 2006! Now, 10 years on, it's only fitting that they treated one of their best-selling shoes, which has won races and even set a record for running around the world, to a major overhaul using the latest technology and materials.

Following a successful launch in the US, in January 2017 inov-8 will launch the Roclite 290, 305, 325 and GTX versions of the 305 and 325. We take a first look at the shoe, which we'll follow up with an in-depth review of all three shoes in a few weeks. To whet your appetite, here's a quick overview of the new Roclites. As ever with inov-8 the number refers to the weight in grams.

Roclite 290

The 290 is the most lightweight and responsive shoe, for when you're moving quickly on a range of tricky surfaces.

Roclite 305

The 305 gives you a bit of extra comfort and protection for those longer training runs and races.

Roclite 325

The 325 is the model which gives you extra ankle support for those really long days out, such as when you're fast packing.

What all the shoes have in common is the next generation sturdy Roclite outsole. All shoes offer more stability than with previous Roclite shoes, as well as more cushioning to provide shock absorption and better energy return. They also feature a cradle which holds your heel in place and supports it. Another improvement is an integrated gusset tongue which helps keep those annoying small rocks and dirt out of your shoe.

In an age when so many shoe companies just change the colour when they launch a new version of a shoe the Roclite looks like a major leap forward, which we're really excited about trying and reporting back on. More soon...
