The organisers of Limassol Marathon GSO have created a range of discounts and packages to encourage running clubs to enter one of Europe’s most exciting international events on Sunday 19th March 2017.
With a 50% discount on the race registration fee and exclusive group packages that include accommodation and race day support, Cyprus’ largest sporting event is a highly attractive option for running clubs wishing to race overseas whilst enjoying a fantastic weekend away.
The packages can be booked for any length of stay and are designed to provide a hassle-free and high quality race experience for athletes and their families.
The packages include: discounted race registration fee; the lowest accommodation rates (including immaculate 3-star hotels, luxury 5-star hotels and family-friendly options) with half board or full board options; transportation to the start line; the official Limassol Marathon T-shirt and race packs delivered to the hotel on arrival. All packages can be booked in easy steps via the event website, www.limassolmarathon.com/packages.php
Running clubs can enjoy additional features such as an exclusive meeting spot at the Limassol Marathon Area before the race, a running club flag at the Running Club Area on race day, a featured article about their club on the Limassol Marathon website and social media, and the option for all running club members to stay at the same hotel if desired.
The appeal of Limassol Marathon GSO goes beyond finances and logistics, however. There are plenty of other reasons why each year over 13,000 participants, ranging from beginners to club runners and elite athletes, come to Limassol to enjoy this international sporting event.
Now entering its 11th year and fully accredited by AIMS, the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races, Limassol Marathon GSO is quite unique in hosting six different races in one day. In addition to the 26.2 mile Marathon there is a Half Marathon, a Petrolina 10K Energy Race, 5K City Race, PrimeTel 5K Corporate Team Race and 1K Kids’ Race. This range of race distances offers a complete sporting experience for competitors and makes the event a great option for running clubs with adult and junior athletes.
Whether a running club is accustomed to overseas travel or only just considering entering a race abroad, Limassol Marathon GSO’s stunning natural location is instantly impressive. With a flat, fast and straight course stretching 21km along Cyprus’ beautiful Mediterranean coastline, and a maximum altitude of 18m, runners have a real chance of achieving a PB as they enjoy the spectacular views and refreshing sea breeze. Early spring warmth, ancient ruins and delicious, healthy food complete the setting.
As part of their #weadvance campaign, Limassol Marathon GSO has confirmed some major changes for the 2017 race which will be of interest to running clubs with more experienced athletes. The winners’ cash prizes have not only been increased for both the Marathon and Half Marathon, but will be doubled if the current course record is broken. This brings the maximum possible Marathon winnings to 4000 euros for both men and women, and the maximum possible Half Marathon winnings to 2000 euros.
Running clubs will also welcome the news that the male and female winners in the six age categories (18–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60-69 years old and 70+) in the Marathon, Half Marathon, Petrolina 10Km Energy Race and 5Km City Race will receive a trophy.
For running clubs in Europe and beyond, Limassol Marathon GSO ticks many boxes when it comes to providing a world class, inclusive sporting event that doubles as a long weekend away. The provision of flexible packages shows that Limassol is ready to welcome runners and their supporters from all over the world, and provide a first-rate service in doing so.
Limassol Marathon GSO Race Director Andreas Spyrou commented: “We have always wanted to welcome more running clubs to Limassol Marathon GSO and for 2017 we are delighted to be able to do so, through carefully created packages and reduced fees to make it both easy and viable.
