Beyond the call of duty!

by Editor
Monday 13th September 2010

Well, they are off on their epic journey! On September 10th 2010, at USS Intrepid, New York City the six men from three of the world’s finest fighting forces (the Royal Marines, British Army and the US Marine Core) have started their 3,530 mile run coast to coast across America to raise money for injured service men and women in both the UK and USA.

We're hoping to provide regular updates from Colour Sergeant Damian Todd; Royal Marine who, after watching the film Forrest Gump in 1994 thought that running across America seemed like an interesting idea.

So far it sounds like things are going to plan and like the team are experiencing quite a welcome a enthusistic support from the Americans!

Gumpathon

Text to donate in the UK: Text GUMP to 70800 to donate £5 to this great challenge... Not 1 marathon...134 marathons!

Click here for other options on how to donate.

If you would like be more active on our behalf then why not run your own fundraising event. For further information on holding a Gumpathon event please email claire@thegumpathon.com
If 3,530 people run events which raise £36.30 it would make raise £130,000, if the same number raised £363 the total would be over £1.3 million. It doesn’t take much to make a big difference.
