Race preview: Run24 - June 30-July1, 2012
With the inaugural Run24 just a few days away the big question is "how far can you go in 24 hours?". Run24 is a brand new race concept developed by Race Director Chris Sumner, with an exciting tagline of "Run Camp Eat Sleep Run".
A 24 hour individual and team relay, Run24 takes place over the weekend of 30 June - 1 July 2012 in the scenic Wasing Park Estate, Aldermaston near Reading, Berkshire. There will free camping for runners (families and friends welcome), bands playing, 24 hour onsite catering, a bar and a guaranteed festival feel. Race Director Chris Sumner called the event "a trail running event with a twist, aimed at both experienced ultra runners and endurance virgins who want to breathe running for 24 hours".
Over 500 runners of all levels, aspirations and ages have registered so far, and entry remains open until 11am on Saturday which means it's not too late if you want to take on an endurance challenge, either as an individual, pair or team! The race takes place on a mixture of surfaces from grass to trail, in the open and through woodland over 8 km / 5 mile loops. The individuals, pairs and teams that cover the most distance in 24 hours will be declared the winners of Run24 2012 at the presentation, which takes place at 1 pm on Sunday.
