Race preview: HEROES RUN series 2012
Pass It On Africa, a Brighton based charity that raises money to build schools and support education in some of the poorest areas of Africa, is pleased to announce the launch of its HEROES RUN series for 2012.
Based on the success of their annual flagship event in Brighton, which has been taking place each May for the last seven years, the organisers have announced that they will be introducing the HEROES RUN to London, Southampton and Poole in 2012. The HEROES RUN series are superhero-themed running events, bringing families, communities and athletes together, all with the common goal to have fun and be active whilst raising valuable funds for charity.
Runners in London and Brighton can enter the Heroic 10K, the Super 5K or the Mini HEROES 500m Dash whilst there is a choice of the Super 5K or the Mini HEROES 500m Dash in Southampton and Poole.

The first HEROES RUN of the series takes place in London on Sunday 1 April 2012, starting and finishing on Clapham Common. This is the first time the event is held in London, and the organisers are looking forward to seeing hundreds of heroic children and adults don their capes and costumes in the capital and run for a great cause.
Charity founders James Macdonald and Matt Lambert said: “We have been wanting to host the HEROES RUN in the capital city for years now. With so much buzz around sport in the Olympic year, we couldn’t think of a better time than 2012 to launch our superhero invasion. We aim to spread the message that anyone can be a superhero, and that relatively small actions can have an immensely positive benefit on the locally-led projects we support in Africa”.
Charity places have also been opened up for the 2012 superhero-themed run series, with the HEROES RUN benefiting over 25 other charities. Please visit www.heroesrun.org.uk/content/charitypartners for full details on the charities involved.
