Entries for the 2013 Southend Marathon ballot will open on April 29, 2012
Running a marathon is a great achievement for any man/woman who undertakes the challenge, it requires months of training and dedication, all of which is solely done with a focus date in mind; the organisers are relied upon to provide the best possible facilities and course, to make their experience unforgettable, enjoyable and not least as ‘fun’ as possible.
Our aim is to make Southend one of the best marathons in the country; this can only be achieved by putting plenty of time and thought into its organisation. Due to unforeseen delays, Runningman Events Ltd is regrettably announcing that this years Southend Marathon, will not be taking place as we originally had hoped for.
An early application will now be issued to Southend Borough Council for the 2013 Southend
Marathon. This new marathon experience will include coach lead group training runs leading up to the event.
We hope those who have shown interest in participating on the 2012 marathon will still want to take part in 2013 and those who have other commitments for this year will have a chance to take part next year.
Please visit www.southendmarathon.com for latest news and information.
We will be opening up the online Ballot System on the day the marathon was meant to be run "Sunday 29th April 2012", anyone wishing to run in next years event will need to get there online ballot entry in as soon as possible. The Ballot Entry can be found at www.southendmarathon.com
I would personally like to thank all those that sent their details in expressing an interest in running the Southend Marathon. By the response we recieved (over 500 submissions) it goes to show that there is still a great interest in bringing back the Southend Marathon, most of that interest was from word of mouth and the facebook group www.facebook.com/southendmarathon
