Mizuno Reading Half Marathon 2012 sold out

by Press Release
Tuesday 10th January 2012

Race preview: Mizuno Reading Half Marathon - Sunday April 1, 2012

The organisers of the Mizuno Reading Half Marathon have announced that general public places and Corporate Charity Relay places for the 2012 race have sold out with the race reaching its maximum capacity of 18,500 places yesterday (9th January 2012).

The Mizuno Reading Half Marathon, in its 29th year, takes place on Sunday 1st April 2012. Apart from the fact that the route is one of the world’s flattest and fastest, it’s also a favourite for beginners as well as seasoned runners wanting to achieve a PB. The finish of the race in the impressive Madejski Stadium makes this a half marathon not to miss.

The race starts in Green Park, 250m from the stadium, taking runners along the old road to Reading University before going through the city centre, over the river Kennet, past The Oracle shopping complex, under Abbey Gate, out to Prospect Park and back into town. Finishing in front of thousands of spectators in Reading Football Club’s magnificent Madejski Stadium is definitely a highlight and sets the Mizuno Reading Half Marathon apart from any other race.

Places are still available for the GreenPark Challenge, a 2.8 km run open to families and athletes wanting a shorter race. The GreenPark Challenge starts at 8.30 am and the entry fee of £6 includes a free t-shirt.

Despite public places being sold out it’s not too late to get involved as some of the charities have limited places remaining. They are selling fast though so don’t delay getting in touch with your chosen charity. CLIC Sargent and Royal Berks Charity are the official charities for 2012, other supported charities with limited places left include The Fire Fighters Charity, Pancreatic Cancer UK, Duchess of Kent House Charity, Berkshire MS Therapy Centre, Against Breast Cancer, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Sue Ryder, Autistica and The Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust.
