The Northants Ultra 35 returns for 2012

by Press Release
Friday 6th January 2012

Race preview: The Northants Ultra 35 - May 27, 2012 In association with the Teach Africa

After a hugely successful race in 2012 we are pleased to announce that the Northants Ultra 35 will once again feature as part of the Run Further Ultra running Championships in 2012.

The race on 27th May starts in the majestic shadow of Lamport Hall before heading off through some glorious countryside touring the counties historical sites and stately homes before returning to Lamport for some well earned refreshments and the legendary Go Beyond fruit cake.

2012 is expected to be another fast race. Stuart Mills holds the course record of 4 hours 20 minutes but with the first 3 last year all inside the previous time and a course that is becoming more familiar to those returning for a third or fourth time we wouldn’t be surprised to see the record fall again.

The extensive prize list for the race is still to be confirmed with previous prize sponsors Injinji, Silva, The Climbers shop, Elete and Clif bars all continuing their ultra distance race support and expected to confirm their support of prizes again in 2012.

Over 100 runners started the 35 mile tour of Northamptonshire in 2011 with many travelling from overseas to experience an ultra in classic English countryside. As one competitor said “It’s all the little things like free drinks and cake at the finish, well stocked checkpoints, enthusiastic support and marshals who actually care that make your races the best out there”

With feedback like this we expect the race to sell out fast. And in 2012 we are offering the opportunity to race for free by supporting the charity Teach Africa. Simply commit to raising the minimum sponsorship and the entry fee will be waived.
