Race preview: Salomon 4Trails - July 4 and 7, 2012
Crossing the Alps in four days on foot – that sounds like an incredible undertaking but between July 4 and 7, 2012, runners will push their limits, astonish hikers and send a chill down the spines of spectators at the second edition of the SALOMON 4TRAILS.
The route of this stage race takes athletes from Garmisch-Partenkirchen via Ehrwald, Imst and Landeck to Samnaun and as such features some incredible stats: four stages, four host cities, three countries, 157.9km of distance as well as about 9,804m of ascent (course still subject to slight changes). Participants must tackle between 30 and 40km of distance and over 2,000m of ascent daily.
At the inaugural event in 2011, ambitious trail runners started alongside established names such as Tom Owens, Anna Frost and the exceptionally talented Philipp Reiter. The event will adhere to this concept in 2012 as well: Basically everybody who feels mentally and physically up for it can start.
In order to meet this challenge good preparation is paramount. However, those four extremely long stages will demand more than stamina. Challenging passages such as narrow, steep or exposed trails, rain, snow and ice require surefootedness and good coordination skills.
Everybody bold enough to face this running adventure will be rewarded with unforgettable impressions, emotions and the pride of being a finisher.
The registration to this trail running highlight is open now. Entry conditions as well as more information about the SALOMON 4TRAILS can be found at www.4-trails.com.
