Race report: The Myton Hospices Santa Dash - Coventry, Sunday November 27, 2011
Any one passing Grace Academy in Coventry on Sunday would have been forgiven for thinking they were seeing things as more than 75 Santas took to the grounds for a charity run.
The participants were dressed in the festive costumes as part of The Myton Hospices Santa Dash and have pledged to raise £7,000 for their local hospice.
It was the first time the 6km event had been held in Coventry and participants were all encouraged to raise sponsorship for completing the route. There was also a 100 metre children’s dash and youngsters dressed in Christmas outfits to take part.
Events manager Charlotte Ingram is delighted with how the event went. She said: “It was a fantastic day with a great atmosphere and the costumes looked brilliant. We would like to thank Grace Academy for letting us use their wonderful facilities and for helping us on the day and also to the team from BBC Coventry and Warwickshire for covering the event.”
Presenter Vic Minett was on hand to greet runners and start the race. Some of her colleagues will also be taking part in our Leamington Santa Dash to raise money for our Myton Nurse Appeal.
So don’t worry if you missed it - we will be doing it all again on Sunday 11th December at Warwickshire Exhibition Centre on Fosse Way and we hope to raise £15,000 from both events.
Registration costs £10 and entrants need to register by Friday 2nd December.
