Liverpool v Las Vegas - Can UK Santa Dash keep record?

by Press Release
Tuesday 22nd November 2011

Last year the biggest Festive Fun Run in the UK - the Liverpool Santa Dash - also won the World Santa Challenge title, beating the Las Vegas event by a massive 2,000 entries

An amazing 7,500 dashing Santas turned out to make it the biggest yet – and in 2011 we expect it to get even bigger! Liverpool remain poised to keep a firm grip on the much coveted trophy but with Las Vegas whipping at our heels to regain the title we need as many runners as possible!

If you haven’t taken part before then you will simply be amazed at what you witness on 4th December as the Liverpool city centre is transformed into a massive, moving sea of red.

Organisers Runliverpool launched the BACK THE DASH campaign with support from Olympic athlete Beth Tweddle, Boxer David Price, St Helens Rugby Captain Paul Wellens joined Liverpool legends Phil Thompson, Alan Kennedy and former Manager Roy Evans, Everton Legends and a host of Liverpool personalities including Big Brothers Craig Phillips, actresses Suzanne Collins and Pauline Daniels, Peter Hooton (The Farm) and MP Steve Rotherham and charity partners radio city cash for kids and Liverpool Unites.

The Liverpool Santa Dash is supporting the Radio City Cash For Kids and Liverpool Echo Liverpool Unites charities this year and we would urge everyone taking part to consider raising just £20 for these fantastic causes.

The real Santa Claus is coming to town to start the world famous race courtesy of Liverpool celebrity hairdresser Herbert. Herbert commented, “It’s unbelievable Santa is coming here to Liverpool. It’s my time to bring magic to the children of Liverpool. At this time of year not everyone gets the opportunity to visit Santa in Lapland so I wanted to bring Lapland to Liverpool.

My mum was a wonderful lady she gave me a magical life and taught me to appreciate the values of Christmas time, a time for forgiving and forgetting and celebrating. She would love nothing more than the city to unite together at this time and for us to believe in the magic of Christmas.”

The world famous race has entries from people from all over the UK and international visitors.
