Team 2012 and adidas launch exclusive limited edition trainers to raise funds for British athletes

Team 2012, presented by Visa, has launched a limited-edition run of exclusive trainers in partnership with adidas to support British athletes in training for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

There are only 250 pairs available to buy, making them a must-have collector’s item for the Games next year.

Anyone who purchases a pair will also be in with a chance of winning top tickets to the Games, including the Men’s 100m final, and an exclusive visit to Team GB’s Headquarters.

The specially produced adiPURE performance trainers are uniquely designed with striking GB colours and Team 2012 branding, with each pair coming individually numbered. All the proceeds of sales of the trainers will go to Team 2012, the official fundraising programme for over 1,200 British athletes aiming to compete for Team GB and ParalympicsGB at London 2012.

With the aim of raising up to £25 million overall, Team 2012 funds are invested in key areas including coaching, travel to competitions, medical support, sports psychology and kit and equipment.

The funds raised will be invested in a world class programme of support which will help ensure that British athletes are the best prepared, best equipped, best supported and most ambitious group of elite sportsmen and women possible at London 2012 and ultimately win more medals from more sports.

Louis Smith, 2008 Gymnastics bronze medallist, said: “The adidas trainers will help to raise crucial funds for athletes in their final preparations for London 2012, and they are a great way of showing your support for GB at the Games.

“With just 250 available to buy I’m sure they’ll be snapped up soon. They are a must-have for anyone who wants to make sure they have a piece of London 2012 history, whilst helping British athletes to win more medals across more sports next year.”

To purchase the trainers (priced at £149 including postage and packaging) and be in with a chance of winning tickets to London 2012, visit www.team-2012.com
