Race preview: The Thames Trot Ultra, in association with Cure Parkinson’s Trust - Saturday February 4, 2012
The Thames Trot returns in 2012 as the largest 50 mile Ultra in the UK. With over 300 entrants and registrations continuing to flood in, 2012 promises to build on the successes of past events.
As an addition to previous years the race is now run in partnership with Cure Parkinson’s Trust which in addition to using our sport to generate much needed funds to combat this terrible and debilitating disease, gives runners the choice of free entry provided they meet the minimum charity pledge.

The race starts at The Prince of Wales pub in Iffley where a warm welcome is guaranteed with light breakfast and a welcome coffee available before the off.
The entire 50 miles are run along the Thames Path providing ever-changing scenery and varied running as Red kites are frequently seen overhead and a multitude of river users pass by at varying speeds .
The Thames Trot remains a firm favourite with many runners:
"The Thames Trot was my first Ultra event with GoBeyond. It was a brilliant experience, I met a load of like-minded folk, the organisation was excellent with regular, well-stocked checkpoints. The course was a great choice, beautiful scenery and it was worth running just for the fruitcake!”
With a stunning course, well stocked checkpoints, a free Tech top for all runners and a commemorative medal for all runners this will prove to be an extremely well supported race in 2012 with race entries
expected to close before Christmas.
