Race preview: The Country to Capital Ultra, in association with the Children’s Trust - January 14, 2012
Now in it’s fourth year the Country to capital 45 mile Ultra returns in 2012 with a now familiar format. The race starts at the Shoulder of Mutton in Wendover following the Chiltern Link, Chess Valley Way and South Bucks Way before eventually picking up the Grand Union canal for a fast finish into West London.
The first half of the race covers some beautiful English countryside, passing within 3 miles of the prime Ministers official country retreat at Chequers, and taking in the best the English shires have to offer on a crisp morning in January.

For 2012 we welcome the Children’s Trust as the official race charity. The Children’s Trust is a national charity working with children who have multiple disabilities and complex health needs enabling them to live life to the full.
With no climbing to speak of this promises to be another fast race with the course record currently held by Craig Stewart in under 5 hours. We wait to see if anyone can challenge this time in 2012.
Over 100 runners completed the 45 miles in 2011 with many travelling from overseas to experience an English ultra for the first time. As one competitor said “ I thought the scenery of the run was absolutely incredible. Your staff were especially amazing and provided great support during the race. I had a wonderful experience and will definitely be travelling across the pond again to participate in GoBeyond events.”
With a stunning course, well stocked checkpoints, a free Tech top for all runners and a commemorative medal for all runners this will prove to be an extremely well supported race in 2012 with race entries expected to close before Christmas.
