If you’ve missed out on a place for the London Marathon and you want to raise money for a good cause, then the Together Trust is calling for you to represent them in this prestigious sporting event. The North West based charity has three places available for this world famous challenge, considered to be one of the top five marathons in the world and taking place on 22nd April 2012.
Around 35,000 runners of all abilities take part in the internationally renowned event every year, donning everything from Lycra body suits to outlandish fancy dress. The 26.2 mile course will take runners past an array of London’s landmarks, including Tower Bridge and St Paul’s Cathedral, and the cheering crowds are sure to create a carnival-like atmosphere to spur the participants on.
Each runner will be asked to commit to a minimum sponsorship target. The money raised from the event will support a number of the Together Trust’s vital care, education and support projects for young people and adults across the North West.
Sally Bowden, fundraising manager for the Together Trust, said: “With the right amount of training and dedication, almost anyone can complete a marathon. Places for this major sporting event are very sought after, and we welcome applicants of any ability. Enthusiasm and energy are the most important thing. It’s a fantastic achievement to complete such a challenge, and each fundraiser’s efforts will make a real difference to the support services we offer.”
