TV, Radio and West End star Denise Van Outen has announced she will be taking part in the Shock Absorber WomenOnly Run in support of official charity Breast Cancer Care on Saturday 22nd October 2011.
Denise is no stranger to taking on a challenge in order to raise money for a worthy cause, having completed the Inca Trail for Breast Cancer Care last year, and is keen to take on a challenge a little closer to home.
She said: “I’m so excited about running the Shock Absorber WomenOnly Run on the 22nd of October with my mates! I lost my beloved Gran to breast cancer, so Breast Cancer Care is a cause very close to my heart. They are here to support the 50,000 people who are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK. Please come and join us at Richmond Park for a great day out with friends raising money for Breast Cancer Care!”
The Shock Absorber WomenOnly Run takes place on closed roads in the idyllic autumnal setting of London’s Richmond Park.
At almost 2,500 acres, it is the largest of the Royal Parks and is home to some of the capital city’s most varied and colourful wildlife including 650 free roaming deer. The course winds its way through the grasslands and ancient woodland of the park, keeping to completely traffic-free, tarmac roads at all times.
The run is perfect for ladies looking to move away from the larger mass-participation events out there and towards something quieter and more intimate, all while retaining all those little creature comforts a well-organised event should always include.
With the two distances of 5k and 10k, the Shock Absorber WomenOnly Run is the perfect event for all the female members of the family to try, while the finish area will feature a varied mix of distractions to keep the men happy. When they are not busy cheering Denise and the other ladies on of course!
Judy Beard, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Breast Cancer Care, said: “We’re really excited to have Denise taking part in this race for us.
“It looks like it’s going to be a fantastic event and we are thrilled to be involved. We want to be there for each and every person affected by breast cancer but we can only do this with the support of events like the Shock Absorber WomanOnly Run and its participants.
“Best of luck to all the ladies taking part!”
