Following the outstanding success of the On Cloudsurfer, On today announces ‘The Cloudrunner’, a technically advanced impact trainer based on the original Cloudsurfer design, engineered for speed and efficiency, but with increased comfort for runners with higher impact or for endurance runs.
Built on the latest research in foot movement, the Cloudrunner has all the benefits of the CloudTecTM 3D cushioning system with its flexible sole and low heel. It is designed for high-impact runs, long training sessions and endurance, but without compromising on speed. The runner is encouraged to adopt a more natural and efficient running style and the shoe reduces the risks of injury.
On’s running shoe technology moves away from conventional running shoe design, which falls into two categories: Soft, which gives poor performance, or hard, which creates injury over time. There are 13 elements on the sole. These elements allow the runner to travel softly into landing, but as the foot strikes the ground, they lock together enabling a firm, powerful push-off and the speed of a race shoe. Unlike other shoes, these elements absorb both vertical and horizontal forces, reducing impact on muscles and joints and providing stability and a solid surface for forward momentum.

Running in the On Cloudrunner has been described as ‘running on clouds’ as heavy impact is transformed into a light, natural run that stimulates the postural muscles that can degenerate with overly-cushioned shoes. The shoe naturally increases cadence and allows the runner to find a natural strike for their running gait. This allows the runner to go faster and for longer.
Rick Kiddle former British Triathlon Champion and National Coach, says: “The industry is currently debating the benefits of barefoot running, proponents of which state it promotes gentler, more efficient running styles due to the encouragement of a mid or forefoot strike. However, the trade-off is injury. The On Cloudrunner and its use of CloudTecTM, promotes this natural mid foot strike, resulting in less impact on the body, a centred running position, shorter strides and a faster transition to forefoot push off; All without fear of injury. I always find the shoes comfortable and reliable and all my athletes find the same.”
Engineered by Olivier Bernhard, six-time Ironman Winner and World Champion duathlete, the shoe is used by many professional athletes andbeat 300 other international brands to win the ispo BrandNew 2010 award for innovation in sports.
The shoe is available in men’s sizes in the colours of Ultramarine and Cyan.
