Powerade To Fuel 17,000 runners every beat of the way

by Press Release
Tuesday 26th July 2011

Run to the Beat powered by Nike+ are proud to announce Powerade ION4 as the official sports drinks partner of ‘London’s Music Half Marathon’ for 2011

Now in its fourth year, Run to the Beat powered by Nike+, an IMG Challenger World event, will take place on the 25th September starting and finishing at London’s iconic O2 Arena.

The annual half marathon event provides 17,000 runners with both exclusive live performances and recorded music during the 13.1 mile run. Last year’s event featured Brit Award winner Tinie Tempah, who performed to motivate participants to the finish line.

The Powerade Sports Science Team will be on hand at the event before and after the race ensuring competitors are offered the best in hydration and training advice.

To help runners achieve their potential, Powerade ION4 will be offering free hydration testing; a process that involves a weigh in before and after the race to determine how much fluid is lost through sweat during the 13.1 mile run. Runners will receive a bespoke hydration card showing their hourly sweat rate together with specialist advice from a sports scientist to ensure individuals adopt sound hydration strategies for future training or competition.

Other giveaways include pace bands and training guides that can be used for future events as well as an opportunity to win Powerade ION4 running sipper bottles.

Powerade Market Activation Director, Zoe Howorth said: “At Powerade we are delighted to be the Official Sports Drink Partner of the 2011 Run to the Beat powered by Nike+. The event offers a unique experience for competitors, combining music and running to help increase performance and enjoyment. Powerade are proud to be hydrating runners every beat of the way.”

Run to the Beat powered by Nike+ is proudly supported by Nike+, Powerade, Leukaemia Lymphoma Research, Virgin Money Giving and City Showcase
