Boutique Run
This year’s most glamorous running event, Boutique Run, took place on Saturday in Battersea Park and saw nearly 2,000 women take part in the second annual, women-only fitness event – the only to offer this unique combination of sport, beauty and live entertainment.
Runners of all abilities took part in the event, including British athlete Lily Partridge, who notably won British honours for last year’s World Cross Country and recently represented her country at the European Cross Country.

Each runner donned their free running vest, supplied by sportswear partner, ASICS and completed a 5 or 10km run.
The weather was great and spirits were high, with women from as far away as Scotland travelling down to take part in this exclusive event and many fundraising for Boutique Run’s charity partner, Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
As well as five star pampering stations for participants, the three fastest 5 and 10k runners were presented with exclusive gifts from GUESS and ASICS. All runners received a ‘Bouti’ bag packed full of goodies from brands including Elemis, Une Cosmetics, Defected Records and Diva Popcorn.
“We’re delighted with the way Boutique Run has developed in just two years. It was a brand new concept and is aimed at breaking down barriers to women’s participation in sport; encouraging them to come together and enjoy exercise. We are planning a series of similar events as part of our wider Boutique Sport campaign that will marry sport with fashion, beauty and music in the same way. So watch this space!” said Boutique Sport Director, Kara Sweney.

The Hurt
The English Dictionary of expletives was rewritten on the 9th July 2011 during and after The Hurt 10k.
In aid of The Royal Surrey Appeal and sponsored by Vines Mini dealership and Fitstuff running shop, The Hurt was billed as the hardest 10k in the South East. It didn’t disappoint and all the runners and walkers had their own mini adventure!
Race Director Rory Macpherson from allabouttriathlons was not surprised to witness the pain and hurt that runners experienced as he has run and mountain biked in the Hurtwood Forest since he learned to walk, so he knows all there is to know about the hidden “delights”! But he was a little shocked to hear previously unheard curses being uttered, screamed and shouted as runners negotiated the ascents and descents.
Matt Cartailler set the best time in the men’s race. The ground moved with every stamp of his foot in the final descent as he sprinted home in 43.02. Colin Wood an aat regular came in 17 seconds (43.19) later and Gavin Brigstocke came in third in 44.42.
The women’s race was a slightly less contested affair but with no less effort. Tish Jones won in a quick time of 47.57 with Farah Azirar taking second place in 52.13 and another aat regular Stephanie Upton coming in third in 53.01

The British 10k London Run
This year's race saw a record number of entries, with over 25,000 people taking part in one of London's great sporting events.
The race was won by Kenyan runner Ben Rotich in a very closely contested British 10K London run. Ben finished the course in a time of 29:02, only a second ahead of his nearest rival!
The British 10K London Run is the UK's leading mass participation 10km road race, which is staged on the world's greatest route through the heart of central London.
The 2011 winning female is Getenesh Tamirat for the second year running! Getenesh was over 30 seconds ahead of her nearest rival, with an excellent time of 34:25.
The race has sold out well in advance for the last six years, and with next year's race being held in London only 11 days before the Olympic Games take place we expect demand to far exceed the places available!

Lee Valley 10k
The Lee Valley 10k took place on Sunday in the scenic surrounds of the River Lee Country Park. This annual event attracted a field of just under 400.

A slightly amended course, did not deter the pace at all, with the winner, Alex Milne, aged 21 and from Enfield and Haringey AC clocking in a time of 34.54, over a minute and a half ahead of his nearest rival, Canterbury Harrier runner Mark Ford. The first woman across the line, and for the third consecutive year was 27 year old Sarah Stimpson in 39.45.
The traffic free flat course provided many with a PB potential, as well and providing a great route for the beginner.
The start and finish of the course is located next to the new Lee Valley White Water Centre, the only brand new Olympic venue to be open to the public before the 2012 Games, and resident GB canoeist Richard Hounslow attended to start of the 10k and Fun Run race and to present the prizes.

Romney Marsh 10K
After 2 or 3 days with almost gale like winds Sunday morning broke calm and sunny over Romney Marsh for the first runnning of this race under its new name of Romney Marsh 10K. Despite the fact that were were 2 or 3 other events in Kent on the same day an encouraging number of over 70 runners including entrants from 16 clubs from as far afield as Leamington Spa and Eastleigh entered .
The beauty of this course is that it is dead flat (how often can you say that), takes in some very quiet lanes around Romney Marsh and is conducted in an efficient but friendly way. Although the temperature at the start was pleasant for running it soon warmed up and with little shade probably affected the times.
The first 3 men over the line were David Weekes, Folkestone R C in 37m 4s, Tim Sutton, Invicta East Kent A C in 40m 05s and Jonathan Waterfield, Met Police A C in 40m 15s.
Showing the way home for the ladies was the Veteran, Lesley Hall form Ashfrod A C in 42m 50s followed by Vicky Talbot-Rosner, Invicta East Kent A C in 45m 07s and Tina Wren, Hastings AC 45m 22s.

Evesham Vale 10k
700 runners took part in this year’s Birdseye Sports Evesham Vale 10k Race with fantastic results all round.
Conditions were hot with very little breeze and many runners struggled in the heat of the day. Starting in the centre of Evesham, the course took runners around picturesque riverside paths, under the Bell Tower into the park and finished in the Crown Meadow to the applause of hundreds of spectators.

Richard Simkiss from Kenilworth was victorious for the second year running beating his own course record by 1 second, in a time of 33 mins, 31 seconds! Emma Gooderham put in a superb performance to finish 1st lady and 4th overall in a new personal best and course record time of 35:54. For the juniors, Conor Shoemark, aged 17, from Bourton Road Runners came in first with a very impressive time of 36:47, followed by Matthew Doyle, aged 15 in a time of 37:05. They finished 8th and 9th respectively in the main race and should be very proud of their achievements – definitely two young men with future potential. Sian Powell was first junior girl in a time of 52:51.

Notfast Open 10k
The 24th Notfast Open 10k once again saw bright sun and clear blue skies but with little wind making it a hot run for the 250 starters including the 60 who entered on the day, no doubt having looked at the weather forecast the day before.

Paul Butcher of Southwell RC headed the field away from the start and gradually extended his lead over the second finisher Carl Allwood (Sutton in Ashfield Harriers) to 48 seconds at the finish line.
An excellent run by Nicki de la Salle of Notts AC put her in 5th place and 1st lady in a time of 36.12.
Two water stations, one positioned at 5k, a few hundred metres prior to the one hill on the course, a sponge station at the top of the hill and the second water station at about 7k helped runners in the hot conditions.

Dyrham Park 10km
Over 200 runners turned out for the inaugural Relish Running Races at the National Trust's Dyrham Park earlier today to enjoy a festival of running with a 10km individual, 10km team relay, 3km fun run and 300m fun run on offer. A challenging course was presented to runners in an absolutely beautiful setting which featured 200 deer roaming the course. Battling for the lead were Sam Denman and Will Christofi, swapping the lead during the race with Sam eventually coming out on top. Not far behind was Georgia Wood who was dominant in the women's race, finishing 6th overall.

It was wonderful to see so many kids taking on the fun runs with young Emma Jones looking like a possible star for the future coming second in the 3km at only age 10, as well as a very strong showing from the Baker family, Luke and Charlotte. Perhaps the highlight for many was watching the 300m runners enjoying a dash around the stunning lawn, spurred on by all the cheering adults.
With 2 more races in the series still to come, on the 7th August and 18th September, there is still plenty of opportunity to race and be in with a chance to win a 2 night stay for 6 people in Clutterbuck Cottage in the National Trust's Newark Park. Every 10km race entry puts you in a chance for this fantastic spot prize.
Finally, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made today possible; the fantastic kids from St Lawrence School, all the staff at Dyrham Park and everyone else who was so generous with their time and energy.

Avon Valley Relay 18
Sixteen teams lined up outside of Christie Miller Sports Centre on Bowerhill for the second running of the Avon Valley Relay, covering 18-miles from Melksham to Winsley.
Winners in a total time of one hour and fifty three minutes were the "Tritons" drawn from members of Avon Valley Runners and DB Max Tri. The Tritons were led off by triathlete Matt Brett, who completed the first leg of four miles to the Somerset Arms in Semington in 23 minutes with Avon Valley Runner Danny
Gard of "Acky's Giants" hot on his heels. Matt then handed over to fellow triathlete Lee Rankin for the 5.5-miles to "The Barge" in Bradford on Avon and increased the lead even further. Triton's captain James Hart then took the baton 4.5-miles onto Dundas Aqueduct before handing onto Brett Flook for the long climb up the miners track on the four mile leg back to the finish at Bradford on Avon Rugby Club in Winsley.
Finishing in fifth place overall was another collaborative team of DB Max Tri and Avon Valley Runners, with team members: Melanie Nicholls, Dan Ford, Rebekah Scott and Alex Booth claiming the Mixed team prize in a time of two hours and four minutes.
The Ladies Race saw Avon Valley Runners retain their title with Carla Dudman, Karen Butler, Jackie Rockliffe and Jo Mumford improving on their 2010 time by over twelve minutes, finishing in two hours and fourteen minutes.
