Join unique London Twin Peak Challenge in support of Action Against Hunger

by Press Release
Monday 18th April 2011

Londoners who want to practice beating the rush hour crowds are being urged to take part in the capital’s only double tower run, the Twin Peak Challenge, in aid of international humanitarian organisation Action Against Hunger.

For those who want to surge ahead on the morning commute and race up the tube steps in style, the Twin Peak Challenge is providing the perfect warm up.

Participants will race up London’s iconic Broadgate Tower and City Point, on Saturday 18 June, scaling 67 floors and 1,512 steps in total, as they dodge past each other to soar to a dizzying height of 935 feet.

Team Captain and 2010 participant, Olympic gold medallist Amy Williams, said of last year’s event: “The atmosphere was incredible. It was a tough challenge and everyone did so well to complete it. The view from the top of The Broadgate Tower was a great reward at the end but most importantly, the money that we raised will go a long way towards helping malnourished children around the world.”

Action Against Hunger’s Senior Events Officer, Francine Heggie, said: “The Twin Peak challenge is the only event in London which involves scaling two iconic buildings, so it is perfect for those who want to take part in something original. Whether people want to push themselves to the limit, or scale the towers at their own pace and take in the amazing views of London, It really is an event that everyone can get involved in. Every penny raised will help Action Against Hunger save the lives of malnourished families. There is still time to get involved, so if you are looking for a true challenge, I encourage you to sign up today.”

The London Twin Peak Challenge will help to raise over £25,000 to fund Action Against Hunger’s life-saving programmes around the world.

All participants will receive training and fundraising support in the lead up to the event. They will also be treated to a post-race massage and refreshments in the chill-out lounge overlooking the spectacular views of the city.

Everyone who signs up for the event in April will receive a complimentary three issue subscription to Women’s Fitness Magazine, courtesy of the publication, which is the London Twin Peak Challenge event sponsor.
