Breast Cancer Care and The Prostate Cancer Charity have today been unveiled as the official charities for the 2012 Virgin London Marathon
The charities will come together to become the official beneficiaries for the London Marathon and will use the money raised to fund a new service for people affected by breast cancer and prostate cancer.
Speaking about the news, Breast Cancer Care’s Samia al Qadhi said, “Over 750,000 people are living with either breast or prostate cancer in the UK right now.
That’s a lot of people who need our help and why we are so excited to have been chosen as the official charities. The money we raise will be used to create a new service which will directly benefit people who have experienced either breast or prostate cancer.”
The charities will partner for the first time to create Team PB, a team of over 900 runners, offering a unique programme of support and advice from some of the UK's foremost experts including professional runners and trainers as well as celebrities. Each team member will be encouraged from recruitment through to race day by our Team PB mentors, who will be on hand to support them for the duration of their training.
