Thousands of runners to take part in the 3rd annual Newham Classic 10K on April 10, 2011 at Stratford, London
Newham Classic 10K, brainchild of Tessa Sanderson CBE, was the first run to go through London 2012 Olympic Park in 2009 and since then it has grown up with an addition of thousands of new runners running through London 2012 Olympic Park and enjoying the view of an iconic Olympic Stadium.
This year's race will feature Kenyan delights. Former World Junior 5000m Champion, Gordon Mugi ( PB: 27:29) of Kenya will lead the challange in the men 10k along with Edwin Kiptoo (29min) and Victoria Park 5mile winner Simon Kasimili (28:26). The course record is 30:14 set by German Florian in 2009.
The Newham Classic 10K is a very diverse race, where runners from 45 nations will be seen running along with more than 2000 runners over 80 athletic clubs.
England Athletics has chosen Newham Classic 10K as a high quality race for its top runners. Olympian Chris Tomilson will flag of the run at 9:15am from West Ham Park.
